Dallas County reports 49 more coronavirus cases, 10th death; 2 Fort Worth officers test positive for virus

Dallas County reported another death related to coronavirus Sunday, along with 49 more positive cases.

A woman in her 80s who lived at a long-term care facility is the 10th reported death in the county. She had been hospitalized and had high-risk chronic health conditions, according to Dallas County Health and Human Services.

Dallas County now has 488 positive coronavirus cases. The number does not include positive results from people who live outside of the county but were tested or treated in Dallas County.


Further details about the new cases were not provided. Dallas News County health officials have said they will release more detailed demographic breakdowns of cases Tuesdays and Fridays.

Two Fort Worth police officers have tested positive for coronavirus, the department said in a news release Sunday.

The officers tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and are “in good spirits despite fighting symptoms," the department said.

The officers work in the same unit and had limited close contact with others, according to the department.

The staff at the police department is disinfecting the office spaces where the two officers worked and tracing the officers’ encounters with other people so they can notify anyone who is at risk.

“We ask the community to pray for a speedy recovery for our officers,” the department said in the news release.

Tarrant County reported 11 new coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing its total to 139.

Fort Worth has seen the most cases in Tarrant County, according to data from the county health department. There have been 47 cases in the city as of Sunday. Arlington was the next highest, with 25 cases, including one death.

Three people have recovered from the virus in Tarrant County, a Press Release Distribution Services In Dallas ccording to the health department data.

Denton County announced 17 new coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing the total to 165.

Of the new cases, five are residents of the Denton State Supported Living Center, home to more than 400 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At the facility, 12 staff members have tested positive thus far. Nine of those individuals reside in Denton County and three reside elsewhere.

In total, 45 residents of the Denton facility have tested positive.
